Story Book Safari is a preschool literacy camp for children ages 3-5.  We offer a range of activities that teach skills in a meaningful context that is understandable to young learners.  Each week's thematic bases will be drawn from a well known children's title and a carefully chosen selection of literacy-based activities  will hold children's interest, as they make the necessary connections needed to become fluent readers.

Helping children learn to read involves more than teaching the alphabet and letter identification. Children must come to understand the alphabet as a system and learn how letters function in written and spoken language.  This skill set is known as phonological awareness and it serves as the bases for our summer program.

Story Book Safari is committed to helping the families in our community develop great readers, so available on our site is helpful information on early literacy, fun activities that can be done at home as well as free funsheets to help build literacy skills in developing readers.  We also offer a free monthly news letter with helpful tips and activities.  And we are available to answer any questions you may have about literacy development for children of all ages.
